Everything you want to know
Where exactly is Jochberg?
Jochberg is in Tyrol (Austria), at 924 metres, about 10 kilometres south of Kitzbühel on the road to the Pass Thurn. The village has just over 1,500 inhabitants.
Is Jochberg good for beginner skiers?
Yes. There is a practice area in the village, and the Skischule Jochberg teaches children from age 3 and adults. Via the Wagstättbahn you then reach the large KitzSki area.
When is the ski area open?
For winter 2026/27 the Resterkogel near the Pass Thurn opens first (planned 6 November 2026). The full link between Kitzbühel, Jochberg and the Resterhöhe is planned from 11 December 2026 to 29 March 2027, depending on snow and weather.
How much is a ski pass?
An adult day pass costs roughly 69 to 83 euros in 2026/27, depending on the period. Children born in 2021 or later ski for free. Current prices are on kitzski.at.
How do I get to Kitzbühel without a car?
By ski bus between Mittersill, the Pass Thurn, Jochberg and Kitzbühel, free with a valid ski pass. On skis, the Wagstättbahn and the 3S cable car also take you into the Kitzbühel ski area.
Where can I rent skis in Jochberg?
At Schiladl, right by the Wagstättbahn valley station, and at the Skischule Jochberg. Both also offer ski servicing.
Where can I buy groceries?
The SPAR is in the village centre (Dorf 26), within walking distance. It is closed on Sundays.
What can I do if I don’t ski?
Winter hiking, cross-country skiing on groomed trails, an afternoon in Kitzbühel or après-ski at the Hofalm. In summer there are hiking routes, the Sintersbach waterfall and the forest pool.
Can I see what the snow is like right now?
Yes: our webcam page shows live images during the day, and the Snow and weather page shows the current snow depth and forecast.
